The global spread of COVID-19 has exposed the illegal and immoral practice of imposing unilateral coercive measures (economic sanctions) by the United States government against more than thirty nations. The economic war against those nations had already resulted in unimaginable suffering of the people in the targeted nations even before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The World Peace Council (WPC) strongly condemns the shameful destruction of the memorial of Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Stepanovich Konev, commander of the Red Army which 75 years ago liberated Prague and brought peace. The disgraceful action carried out by the municipality of Prague 6 is an act of revenge and anti-communism and constitutes one more effort to make history forgotten and to re-write history.

On another anniversary of the Palestinian people's massive protests of the against the seizure of their land by the Israeli state, the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) reaffirms its unbreakable solidarity and support for that people's courageous struggle for a free, independent and viable state along the borders prior to June 1967.
The U.S. President Donald Trump, ever known for his uncouth behaviour and uninformed utterances, is openly threatening India to comply with its dictates or face retaliation. This tyrannical attitude is simply not tolerable. All India Peace and Solidarity Organision condemns in strongest words President Trump's unacceptable, public threat. This is not the way a nation deals with another sovereign nation, much less when the entire world is engulfed in an unprecedented crisis.
The Czech Peace Movement strongly condemns the shameful destruction of the memorial of Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Stepanovich Konev, commander of the Red Army which 75 years ago brought freedom and peace to Prague. The leadership of the Municipal Dictrict Prague 6 headed by mayor Ondřej Kolář disgracefully ordered the destruction of said memorial, which for four decades symbolized gratitude for liberators of our capitol and country from fascist's occupation and terrors of the World War II.

The U.S. Peace Council denounces the continuing aggression by the Trump administration against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We call on the Trump administration to immediately stop the illegal sanctions, to dismiss the false charges brought against Venezuela’s leaders, and to withdraw the U.S. war ships from the coast of Venezuela. We call on Congress to strongly oppose this latest attack by the Trump administration on Venezuela.

In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world, the US Administration, headed by Donald Trump, has just dealt yet another real blow against Venezuela and the Venezuelan people, by accusing its legitimate President, Nicolas Maduro, and other Venezuelan officials, of an alleged involvement in “drug trafficking”, without any proof to support this allegation, and by establishing a $ 15 million reward for information leading to his arrest and/or conviction.
As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads rapidly around the globe, claiming many thousands of lives in its path, Canadians from coast to coast to coast along with peoples around the world are confronted with an extraordinarily alarming threat. At this most difficult moment, the Canadian Peace Congress conveys its solidarity and best wishes to our members and friends, and to all peoples across the country in our common struggle to control this dreadful contagion.

NATO has announced the holding this year in Europe, including in Portugal, of one of the largest military exercises of the last 25 years, to be held in a phased manner and in several countries by this aggressive political-military bloc.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, NATO has decided to maintain them, reducing the size and postponing some of the exercises.
In the month that marks the 70th anniversary of the launch of the Stockholm Appeal to abolish nuclear weapons, the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation, together with other organisations, launches a new petition " For Portugal to join the Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty - Defending peace is defending life", which invites everyone to sign and disseminate.
