The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) expresses its solidarity with the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), its President, Fernando González Llort, its First Vice-President, Noemí Rabaza Fernández, and its Director for North America, Leima Martínez Freire, in the face of the unacceptable and unjustified sanctions imposed on them by the United States Administration.

Fernando González Llort, Noemí Rabaza Fernández, and Leima Martínez Freire are the target of an unacceptable coercive measure by the US, not because of any alleged "malicious activities" or "threats to US national security and foreign policy," as the US Administration falsely and hypocritically claims, but because, together with their people, they are a courageous and determined example of defending the right of each people to sovereignly and freely decide their own path, of peace, solidarity, friendship, and cooperation among all peoples.

These sanctions, illegally and unilaterally imposed by the US against ICAP, constitute yet another expression of the policy of aggression that has plagued Cuba and its people for decades, seeking to obstruct the development of the action and relations that the Cuban people have built and maintain with peoples and numerous organizations around the world in the interest of solidarity, friendship, and cooperation.

Condemning in the strongest possible terms the illegal and unilaterally imposed sanctions by the US, the CPPC reaffirms its solidarity with ICAP, its leaders and workers, and the Cuban people, as well as its commitment to continue and strengthen solidarity with Cuba, denouncing the aggression and threats from the US, the attempt to economically strangle Cuba with the intensification of the criminal and genocidal blockade, and the cynical placement of Cuba on the US's arbitrary list of "state sponsors of terrorism," when it is the US that promotes persistent state terrorism against Cuba.

The CPPC reaffirms the deep bonds of friendship and solidarity that unite the Portuguese and Cuban peoples and that are expressed, among other dimensions, in the relationship between the CPPC and ICAP.
The Cuban people have the right to live in peace, to sovereignly determine their future without external pressure, interference, and aggression.
The CPPC will continue to stand alongside the Cuban people and ICAP in defending peace, sovereignty and the rights of peoples, solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the Portuguese and Cuban peoples.

Dar mais força à solidariedade com Cuba e o ICAP!
Fim à agressão dos EUA contra Cuba!

O Conselho Português para a Paz e Cooperação (CPPC) manifesta a sua solidariedade com o Instituto Cubano de Amizade com os Povos (ICAP), com o seu Presidente, Fernando González Llort, com a sua Primeira Vice-Presidente, Noemí Rabaza Fernández, com a Diretora para a América do Norte, Leima Martínez Freire, face às inaceitáveis e injustificadas sanções de que foram alvo pela Administração dos Estados Unidos da América.

Fernando González Llort, Noemí Rabaza Fernández e Leima Martínez Freire são alvo de uma inadmissível medida de coerção por parte dos EUA não por quaisquer ditas “atividades malignas” ou “ameaças à segurança nacional e à política externa dos EUA”, como falsa e hipocritamente alega a Administração norte-americana, mas por, em conjunto com o seu povo, serem um corajoso e determinado exemplo de defesa do direito de cada povo a decidir soberana e livremente o seu caminho, da Paz, da solidariedade, da amizade e da cooperação entre todos os povos.

Estas sanções ilegal e unilateralmente impostas pelos EUA contra o ICAP constituem mais uma expressão da política da agressão que, há décadas, atinge Cuba e o seu povo, procurando obstaculizar o desenvolvimento da acção e relações que o povo cubano construiu e mantém com os povos e e inúmeras organizações por todo o mundo em prol da solidariedade, da amizade e da cooperação.
Condenando de forma mais veemente as sanções ilegal e unilateralmente impostas pelos EUA, o CPPC reafirma a sua solidariedade com o ICAP, com os seus dirigentes e trabalhadores, com o povo cubano, bem como o seu compromisso de prosseguir e dar mais força à solidariedade com Cuba, denunciando a agressão e as ameaças dos EUA, a tentativa de estrangulamento económico de Cuba, com recrudescimento do criminoso e genocida bloqueio e a cínica colocação de Cuba na arbitrária lista dos EUA de «países patrocinadores de terrorismo», quando são os EUA que promovem uma persistente acção de terrorismo de Estado contra Cuba.
O CPPC reafirma os profundos laços de amizade e solidariedade que unem os povos português e cubano e que se expressam, entre outras dimensões, na relação entre o CPPC e o ICAP.

O povo cubano tem direito a viver em paz, a determinar soberanamente o seu futuro sem pressões, ingerências e agressões externas.

O CPPC continuará ao lado do povo cubano e do ICAP a defender a Paz, a soberania e os direitos dos povos, a solidariedade, a amizade e a cooperação entre os povos português e cubano.
