The Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE) is holding rallies all over the country in commemoration of the 79th anniversary of the bombing of the martyr cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The two major events will take place on 6th August at the "Acropolis" of Athens and in Thessaloniki at the "White Tower".

This year's main slogans are:

79 Years from the bombing of Hiroshima&Nagasaki

The Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE) organized on 21st April the 41st Peace Marathon (42,3 km from Marathoin to Athens) with many hundreds of Peace fighters till the Ministry of National Defense of Athens, where many thousands friends of EEDYE rallied for a protest demonstration. The date coincided exactly with the first banned Peace March in 1963 carried out by Grigoris Lambrakis, Vice-president of EEDYE and MP who was assassinated one month later.

The Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE), on the occasion of November 29, which has been designated as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People since 1977, expresses its solidarity and support for the just struggle of the people of Palestine for a homeland free, sovereign and independent.

The Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE) expresses its deep concern about the recent developments in Ukraine. The confrontation between the US - NATO - EU and Russia is escalating dangerously, on the ground of all the events that took place in the region of Ukraine from 2014 until today.

The Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE) denounces the actions organized by the imperialists in recent days in order to cause political destabilization in Cuba. The United States, along with the mafia and other counter-revolutionary forces inside Cuba, are taking advantage of shortages due to the 60-year blockade on imported goods, basic necessities, and constant power cuts by organizing protests and calling for the overthrow of the government.

A resounding anti-imperialist message that "the only hope is the struggle of the peoples" was sent by thousands of people, with a strong youth presence, who, responding to the call of the Greek Committee for International Détente and Peace (EEDYE), along with trade unions, students’ unions and mass organizations, demonstrated in front of the Israeli Embassy and then marched a long way to the US Embassy.

The Greek Committee for International Détente and Peace (EEDYE) denounces and condemns in the strongest terms the arrival and docking of the US aircraft carrier "USS Dwight D. Eisenhower" at the Souda Naval Base of Crete, which with the support of the Greek Armed Forces is currently operating in the Eastern Mediterranean.
