The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation condemns the terrorist attack against the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and against other Venezuelan leaders, that took place last Saturday, August 4, in Caracas.
This attack rises to a new and dangerous level the manoeuvres and campaigns by the reactionary right wing and by imperialism, that aim at destabilizing Venezuela and at overthrowing its legitimate government, lead by Nicolás Maduro.
On the 73rd. anniversary of the US nuclear bombings of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, on August 6 and 9, 1945, the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) reaffirms the need and urgency to put an end to this type of weapons of widespread destruction. General, simultaneous and controlled disarmament has for more than seven decades been the central aim of action of all those who, in Portugal and around the world, defend international peace and security.
El atentado con drones ocurrido este sábado en Caracas, que tenía como blanco el presidente de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, merece de todos los humanistas y demócratas la más vehemente manifestación de repudio.
El Centro Brasileño de Solidaridad con los Pueblos y Lucha por la Paz (Cebrapaz) desde hace tiempo advierte que los sectores de la derecha venezolana, financiados y dirigidos por el imperialismo estadounidense, ponen la paz de la nación hermana y de la propia región en peligro con sus métodos antidemocráticos y terroristas.
Last Saturday (4), the Venezuelan right-wing, in collusion with its imperialist masters, embarked on a new phase in its terrorist escalation to overthrow the Bolivarian Revolution. Sicarios at the behest of obscurantist forces, resorting to modern technologies, tried to take the life of the legitimate President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.

Alongside the democratic and peace-loving forces around the world, we reject this terrorist action inasmuch as we have fought energetically against the coup attempts that successively occur in Venezuela.

The World Peace Council condemns in the most vehement way the attempt for assasination of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro, which constitutes a coward act of the forces which are trying since some time to destabilize the country ,its economy and elected government. The WPC denounces to the peace loving people of the world the foreign interference and the sponsoring of an economic war expressed in many ways including violent actions of forces with dubious agenda.
Communiqué of the Asia Pacific Regional Meeting of World Peace Council
The Asia Pacific Regional Meeting of World Peace Council has been successfully accomplished in Kathmandu Nepal during 27-28th July 2018. Participated by 44 delegates from seven countries (India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Laos, Greece and Nepal), the meeting concluded endorsing future activities till the month of December this year.
Following the actions decided in the meeting of WPC European member organizations, held in London on 26 May, and the consultation to WPC European member organizations we now divulge the text "ABOLISH NUCLEAR WEAPONS - HIROSHIMA AND NAGASAKI NEVER AGAIN", to mark the approaching 73rd anniversary of the US bombings against Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
