Mike Pompeo and Netanyahu are not welcome to Portugal!

December 6, 18h00, Largo Camões – Lisbon

It was announced that Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State was coming to Portugal. Afterwards the presence of the Israeli prime-minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, that will hold meetings with Pompeo and Portuguese authorities, was also confirmed.

Today, November 29, marks the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, established by the United Nations, in view of the adoption by its General Assembly of Resolution 181 of 1947, which called for the division of Palestine into two States, a Jewish and an Arab - respectively, with 55% and 44% of the territory - and the continuity of Jerusalem and Bethlehem under international control.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will continue to mark its 70th years with a Heads of State and Government summit in London on 3-4 December 2019.

For 70 years, NATO has been the number one aggressive military tool of imperialism. It is the largest and most dangerous military organization in the world. Despite rivalries between its individual members and the contradictions these from time to time present, it remains inherently and deeply interconnected with the policies of the US and EU, its so-called 'European arm'.

«Yes to peace! No to NATO! ”Is once again the motto that unites several Portuguese organizations that demand the defence of peace and the rights of peoples and demand compliance with the principles embodied in the United Nations Charter and the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic. They therefore contest the holding of the NATO summit in London (3-4 December) and reaffirm the demand for the dissolution of this aggressive military-political bloc, responsible for most of the world's military spending, for the dissemination of military bases and installations.

Once again, the US government has shown that it is willing to annul even international law in order to support of the violations and crimes committed by the guardian of Imperialist interests, namely Israel. This time through the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, it is covering up the war crime which is being committed in the occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank, provocatively characterizing Israeli settlements as lawful.

The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) strongly rejects the consummation of the coup d'état in Bolivia against President Evo Morales, his government, the democratic constitutionality and the Bolivian people.

As the CPPC has previously pointed out, this is yet another step towards the execution of the destabilization agenda commanded from Washington against the peoples and countries that in Latin America and the Caribbean have been leading processes of affirmation of sovereignty, social progress and cooperation

The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) welcomes the vote in the United Nations General Assembly, which once again on November 7 overwhelmingly condemned the economic, commercial and financial blockade by the United States against Cuba and demanded its lifting. This is the 28th. consecutive time that this UN body has spoken on this matter, and always in a resounding way.
