The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) participated in the 47th European Conference of Solidarity and Support for the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO), which had as its motto "Independence is the only solution", which took place on December 1 and 2, in Toledo.

This Conference was attended by around 260 participants from various countries, who were divided into 4 working groups: "Natural Resources", "Politics and information", "Consolidation of the State"; and "Human Rights".

In addition to its participation in the debates held in these working groups, the CPPC also had the occasion to express a message of solidarity with the Saharawi people and the Polisario Front, their legitimate representative, condemning the occupation of Western Sahara by the kingdom of Morocco and reaffirming that the right to self-determination of the Sahrawi people must be respected and fulfilled.

The CPPC will remain committed to denouncing Morocco's policy of occupation and oppression in the territories of Western Sahara, and in demanding that the Portuguese Government exercise effective and coherent action in favour of compliance with international law, namely the inalienable right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.

O Conselho Português para a Paz e Cooperação (CPPC) participou na 47ª Conferência Europeia de Solidariedade e Apoio ao Povo Saarauí (EUCOCO), que teve como lema "A independência é a única solução", que se realizou nos dias 1 e 2 de dezembro, em Toledo.

Nesta Conferência estiveram presentes cerca de 260 participantes de vários países, que se dividiram em 4 grupos de trabalho: "Recursos Naturais", "Política e informação", "Consolidação do Estado" e "Direitos Humanos".

Para além da sua participação nos debates tidos nestes grupos de trabalho, o CPPC teve ainda a oportunidade de expressar uma mensagem de solidariedade ao povo saarauí e à Frente Polisário, sua legítima representante, condenando a ocupação do Saara Ocidental pelo reino de Marrocos e reafirmando que o direito à autodeterminação do povo sarauí deve ser respeitado e cumprido.

O CPPC continuará empenhado na denuncia da política de ocupação e opressão de Marrocos nos territórios do Saara Ocidental, e na exigência de que o Governo português exerça uma efectiva e coerente acção em prol do cumprimento do direito internacional, designadamente do inalienável direito à autodeterminação do povo saarauí.
