The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) strongly condemns Israel's criminal and genocidal aggression against the Palestinian people, with the continuation of attacks on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which increase the number of already hundreds of thousands of dead, wounded and displaced Palestinians murdered, including tens of thousands of children.

The CPPC also condemns Israel's terrorist action on April 29 against activists in solidarity with Palestine, including 3 Portuguese citizens, who were aboard two dozen vessels that were part of a new flotilla transporting humanitarian aid and sailing in international waters, more than 1000 kilometers from the Gaza Strip.

This action constitutes an act of piracy, in flagrant violation of international law, compounded by allegations of violence and ill-treatment inflicted by Israeli forces on activists and the arrest of two of them in Israel without any legal basis, who should be released immediately.

In addition to all the brutality, illegalities, and crimes systematically perpetrated by Israel, what stands out in this new criminal action is, once again, the impunity enjoyed by Israel, which illegally attacks and occupies territories of various countries and violates and disrespects international law with impunity, including various treaties, notably regarding nuclear weapons, of which Israel is the only country in the Middle East that possesses them.

It is worth remembering that in the Gaza Strip, occupied and completely blockaded by Israeli military forces, there is practically no infrastructure or health services, as they were destroyed by Israeli bombings, and the necessary humanitarian aid does not reach the Palestinian population due to the Israeli blockade.

The Portuguese Palestinian National Council (CPPC) demands a clear condemnation from the Portuguese Government of this illegal and unacceptable action by Israel, as well as the withdrawal of any consequent implications regarding relations between Portugal and Israel and between the European Union and Israel.

The CPPC demands an end to the genocide and occupation, the entry of urgent and necessary humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, an end to the blockade and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from that Palestinian territory, an end to settlements, and the release of all Palestinian political prisoners from Israeli dungeons, victims of all kinds of violence and arbitrariness and threatened with execution. Only a solution that guarantees Palestinians their national rights can ensure a just and lasting peace in Palestine and the Middle East.

These and other demands will be reaffirmed on May 14th, at the public session at 6 PM, promoted by the CPPC and the MPPM, at the Association of Journalists and Men of Letters of Porto, and on May 15th, at the public event promoted by the CGTP-IN, the CPPC, the MPPM and the Ruído Project, taking place at 6 PM in Lisbon (at Praça Camões).

The CPPC calls for participation in these actions, for an end to the genocide and occupation, for the establishment of a free, independent and sovereign Palestinian State, with the borders prior to June 1967 and its capital in East Jerusalem, and for the right of return of Palestinian refugees, in accordance with UN resolutions.

CPPC condena ação terrorista e impunidade de Israel

– prosseguir a solidariedade com o povo palestiniano

O Conselho Português para a Paz e Cooperação (CPPC) condena veementemente a criminosa agressão genocida de Israel contra o povo palestiniano, com a continuação dos ataques à Faixa de Gaza e na Cisjordânia, que aumentam o número de já centenas de milhar de mortos, feridos e deslocados palestinianos assassinados, incluindo muitas dezenas de milhares de crianças.

O CPPC condena também a ação terrorista de Israel, no dia 29 de abril, contra ativistas solidários com a Palestina, entre os quais 3 portugueses, que se encontravam a bordo de duas dezenas de embarcações que integravam uma nova Flotilha que transportava ajuda humanitária e que seguia em águas internacionais, a mais de 1000 quilómetros da Faixa de Gaza.

Trata-se de uma ação que constitui um ato de pirataria, em flagrante violação do direito internacional, a que acrescem as denúncias de violência e maus-tratos impostos pelas forças israelitas a ativistas e a prisão de dois deles em Israel, sem qualquer respaldo legal e que devem ser imediatamente libertados.

Para além de toda a brutalidade, ilegalidades e crimes sistematicamente perpetrados por Israel, o que sobressai desta nova ação criminosa é, mais uma vez, a impunidade de que goza Israel, que agride e ocupa ilegalmente territórios de diversos países e viola e desrespeita impunemente o direito internacional, incluindo diversos tratados, nomeadamente quanto às armas nucleares, que Israel é o único país do Médio Oriente que as possui.

Recorde-se que na Faixa de Gaza, ocupada e totalmente bloqueada pelas forças militares israelitas, não há praticamente infraestruturas ou serviços de saúde, pois foram destruídos pelos bombardeamentos israelitas, e não entra a necessária ajuda humanitária à população palestiniana, devido ao bloqueio de Israel.

O CPPC reclama do Governo português uma clara condenação desta ação ilegal e inaceitável de Israel, assim como a retirada de consequentes ilações quanto às relações entre Portugal e Israel e entre a União Europeia e Israel.

O CPPC exige o fim do genocídio e da ocupação, a entrada da urgente e necessária ajuda humanitária na Faixa de Gaza, o fim do bloqueio e a retirada total das forças israelitas daquele território palestiniano, fim dos colonatos, a libertação de todos os prisioneiros políticos palestinianos das masmorras israelitas, vítimas de todo o tipo de violências e arbitrariedades e ameaçados de execução. Só uma solução que garanta aos palestinianos os seus direitos nacionais, poderá garantir uma paz justa e duradoura na Palestina e no Médio Oriente.

Estas e outras exigências serão reafirmadas no próximo dia 14 de Maio, na sessão pública às 18h00, promovida pelo CPPC e pelo MPPM, na Associação dos Jornalistas e Homens de Letras do Porto, e no dia 15 de Maio, no acto público promovido pela CGTP-IN, pelo CPPC, pelo MPPM e pelo Projecto Ruído, com lugar às 18h00 em Lisboa (na Praça Camões).

O CPPC apela à participação nestas ações, pelo fim do genocídio e da ocupação, pela concretização de um Estado da Palestina livre, independente e soberano, com as fronteiras anteriores a Junho de 1967 e capital em Jerusalém Leste, e do direito de retorno dos refugiados palestinianos, conforme as resoluções da ONU.
