Under persistent rain, many people participated on March 14th in the demonstration "Peace, Sovereignty, Solidarity. End the threats and aggressions of the USA!", which linked the University City to Sete Rios, passing by the US embassy in Lisbon. Banners, posters, and slogans expressed solidarity with the peoples who are victims of military aggression, threats, or interference: with the Palestinian people, against genocide and occupation, for the fulfillment of their national rights; with the Lebanese people, for an end to Israeli aggression; with the Iranian people, against the war; with the Cuban people, for an end to the blockade and threats; with the Venezuelan people, for the release of President Nicolas Maduro and Deputy Cilia Flores, in defense of sovereignty; with the Sahrawi people, for an end to the occupation and for their right to self-determination.

Also contested was the militarization and diversion of resources needed for salaries and pensions, health, education, housing, and social security to armaments: "We want peace, we want bread, peace and cooperation" and "Health, education, housing, no money for weapons!" were some of the slogans.

At various times, the Portuguese Government was demanded to take a clear position in defense of peace, which includes not allowing the use of the Lajes Air Base for attacks on other peoples.

In Lisbon, at the end, the appeal that united more than 100 organizations in this demonstration was read, and it was affirmed that actions for peace, against imperialism, will not stop there.

In Porto, the young Joana Teixeira, from the Ruído Project, introduced the participants, with the vice-president of the CPPC, Manuela Branco, recalling the reasons for the protest and guaranteeing that the action for peace, disarmament, and solidarity will continue.

On the 30th, at 6 pm, Palestine Land Day will be celebrated in Lisbon. And it was to the sound of "Grândola, Vila Morena" that the demonstration in Lisbon and Porto ended, with all those present committing to continue fighting for a land of fraternity.

Muitos saíram em Lisboa e no Porto pela paz, a soberania e a solidariedade

Sob chuva persistente, foram muitas as pessoas que participaram no dia 14 de março, na manifestação "Paz, Soberania, Solidariedade. Fim às ameaças e agressões dos EUA!", que uniu a Cidade Universitária a Sete Rios, com passagem junto à embaixada dos EUA em Lisboa. Nas faixas, cartazes e palavras de ordem manifestou-se solidariedade aos povos vítimas de agressão militar, ameaças ou ingerências: ao povo palestiniano, contra o genocídio e a ocupação, pelo cumprimento dos seus direitos nacionais; ao povo libanês, pelo fim da agressão israelita; ao povo iraniano, contra a guerra; ao povo cubano, pelo fim do bloqueio e das ameaças; ao povo venezuelano, pela libertação do presidente Nicolas Maduro e da deputada Cilia Flores, em defesa da soberania; ao povo sarauí, pelo fim da ocupação e pelo seu direito à autodeterminação.
Contestada foi também a militarização e o desvio para armamento de recursos que fazem falta aos salários e às pensões, à saúde, à educação, à habitação, à segurança social: "queremos paz, queremos pão, paz e cooperação" e "saúde, educação, habitação, dinheiro para armas não!", foram algumas das palavras de ordem.
Em vários momentos exigiu-se do Governo português uma posição clara em defesa da paz, o que passa por não permitir a utilização da Base das Lajes para o ataque a outros povos.

Em Lisboa, no final, foi lido o apelo que uniu mais de 100 organizações nesta manifestação e afirmado que as acções pela paz, contra o imperialismo, não ficam por aqui.
No Porto, a jovem Joana Teixeira, do Projeto Ruído, apresentou os intervenientes, cabendo à vice-presidente do CPPC, Manuela Branco, lembrar as razões do protesto e a garantir que a acção pela paz, o desarmamento e a solidariedade vai continuar.

No dia 30, às 18h00, será assinalado em Lisboa o Dia da Terra da Palestina. E foi ao som de Grândola, Vila Morena que a manifestação, em Lisboa e no Porto terminou, com o compromisso de todos os presentes de continuarem a bater-se por uma terra da fraternidade
