The Congress of the Cyprus Peace Council (CPC) took place in Nicosia on 8th July with the participation of dozens of delegates from the whole island and the dicussion and adoption of a declaration which you can see below. The Congress was attended by personalities and representatives of political parties and movements of Cyprus and by guests from the Cuba, represented by Aleida Guevara, daughter of the revolutionary “Che” and by the General Secretary of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), Jose Angel Maury.

At the World Peace Council (WPC) Assembly held in Brazil in November 2016 the various Caribbean Peace Organizations that were in attendance and the WPC’s regional coordinator for the Americas and the Caribbean -the Cuban Movement for Peace and People´s Sovereignty (MovPaz)- called for the holding of the First Caribbean Peace Conference in Barbados in the year of 2017.

The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) strongly condemns the recent decisions buy the US president to strengthen the blockade against Cuba, namely by reverting some measures, that although insuficient, had been put forward by the previous US Administration. Now it will again become harder for US citizens to travel to Cuba and new restrictions on comercial trade with the island have emerged.

With indignation and firm rejection, we again denounce the US and its allies' attempts of promoting a direct offensive against the Arab Syrian Republic, using the same, demonstrated false pretexts to justify an invasion.

The US and its allies have promoted the tale, presenting no evidence whatsoever, according which the Syrian government is preparing a chemical attack against the population. It is passed time we bury the practice of imperialist powers and their servants of inventing outright lies and selling them as sentences to justify “humanitarian interventions”.

Against interference, aggression and a coup d'état in Venezuela!

We again denounce the campaign of destabilization and creation of chaos against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, a campaign that, on the 27th of June, has escalated with the attacks against the Supreme Court of Justice and the Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace, in the capital Caracas.
