The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC), reaffirming its solidarity with the Cuban people, condemns the repeated threats of military aggression by the US against Cuba.

The unacceptable statements by US President Donald Trump that he will "take control of Cuba" constitute a clear and direct threat of military aggression that can only deserve the strongest repudiation and condemnation from all those who defend peace, sovereignty and the rights of peoples, the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and international law.

At the same time, the US is further intensifying the criminal blockade that it has imposed on the Cuban people for more than 60 years, through the issuance of a new executive order with measures directed particularly at foreign banks operating in Cuba, as well as entities that provide material, financial or technological support or that cooperate with Cuba in the energy, mining, defense and security sectors.

These deplorable measures, intended to increase pressure against Cuba, are not only illegal under international law, but also aim to stifle and deprive an entire people of the conditions that would allow them to meet their most pressing needs.

The CPPC reaffirms its solidarity with the Cuban people and their Revolution, which has been able to guarantee important rights for the entire population, as well as setting an example of solidarity with the peoples of the world, including in the provision of healthcare and education.

The CPPC reaffirms its demand for an end to the blockade, namely the supply of fuel, the removal of Cuba from the arbitrary and illegitimate US list of so-called "state sponsors of terrorism," and all coercive measures and interference by the US against Cuba. The CPPC calls on all who defend peace and the sovereignty of peoples to strengthen solidarity with Cuba and its people, denouncing and condemning the unacceptable threats of US military aggression and contributing to the continuation of the Solidarity Campaign “For Cuba! End the blockade!”.

Fim ao bloqueio e às ameaças dos EUA a Cuba!

O Conselho Português para a Paz e Cooperação (CPPC), reafirmando a sua solidariedade com o povo cubano, condena as reiteradas ameaças de agressão militar dos EUA a Cuba.
As inaceitáveis declarações do Presidente dos EUA, Donald Trump, de que “tomará o controlo de Cuba”, constituem uma clara e direta ameaça de agressão militar que só podem merecer o mais vivo repúdio e condenação de todos quantos defendem a paz, a soberania e os direitos dos povos, os princípios da Carta das Nações Unidas e do direito internacional.
Ao mesmo tempo, os EUA intensificam ainda mais o criminoso bloqueio que há mais de 60 anos impõem ao povo cubano, através da emissão de uma nova ordem executiva com medidas dirigidas particularmente aos bancos estrangeiros que operam em Cuba, assim como entidades que forneçam apoio material, financeiro ou tecnológico ou que cooperem com Cuba no sector de energia, mineiro, defesa e segurança.
Estas deploráveis medidas que pretendem elevar a pressão contra Cuba, para além de ilegais à luz do direito internacional, visam sufocar e tentar privar todo um povo das condições que lhe permitam assegurar a resposta às suas mais prementes necessidades.
O CPPC reafirma a solidariedade com o povo cubano e a sua Revolução, que foi capaz de garantir importantes direitos a toda a população, bem como de constituir um exemplo de solidariedade com os povos do mundo, incluindo na prestação de cuidados de saúde e na educação.
O CPPC reafirma a exigência do fim do bloqueio, nomeadamente do fornecimento de combustíveis, da retirada de Cuba da arbitrária e ilegítima lista dos EUA de ditos “países patrocinadores do terrorismo” e de todas as medidas coercivas e acção de ingerência dos EUA contra Cuba.
O CPPC apela a todos os que defendem a paz e a soberania dos povos que reforcem a solidariedade com Cuba e o seu povo, denunciando e condenado as inaceitáveis ameaças de agressão militar dos EUA e contribuindo para o prosseguimento da Campanha de Solidariedade “Por Cuba! Fim ao bloqueio!”.
