The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation strongly condemns the military attack by the US and Israel against Iran, in violation of international law, and warns of the real risks of destabilizing the entire region.

No matter what the US administration and the genocidal government of Israel say, what is at stake is the attempt to control Iran's energy resources and the removal of an obstacle to the US's ambitions to dominate the Middle East and the interests of its multinational corporations, which is also associated with the US strategy of limiting China's development and its relationship with countries with energy resources.

This aggression adds to the military attack on Bolivarian Venezuela and the escalation of interference and pressure against Cuba and other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, the threats to Greenland, and the belligerent policy of the use of force that has been the hallmark of US policy and its allies, in total violation of the principles of the UN Charter and international law.

The CPPC demands that the Portuguese Government take a firm stance condemning the US and Israeli attack on Iran and comply with what the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic obliges it to do, namely: the defense of peace, the sovereignty of States and the rights of peoples, the end of colonialism and imperialism, and the disarmament or dissolution of political-military blocs. The use of the Lajes Air Base in the Azores by the US for the attack on Iran involves our country in this aggression, which is unacceptable.

In light of this aggression from the US and Israel, the CPPC stands in solidarity with the Iranian people and demands an immediate end to the attacks on Iran and respect for its sovereignty, reaffirming that peace in the Middle East implies an end to the genocide of the Palestinian people and the realization of their national rights, as well as an end to attacks on countries in this region, such as Lebanon or Syria.

The CPPC calls on all those who defend peace, international security, sovereignty, and the rights of peoples to participate in the demonstration that several Portuguese organizations are promoting on March 14th in Lisbon and Porto.

Pela Paz no Médio Oriente!
Fim à agressão dos EUA e Israel ao Irão e a outros países da região!
Fim ao genocídio do povo palestiniano! Palestina livre e independente!

O Conselho Português para a Paz e Cooperação condena veementemente o ataque militar pelos EUA e Israel contra o Irão, à revelia do direito internacional, e alerta para os riscos reais de desestabilização de toda a região.

Diga o que disser a administração norte-americana e o governo genocida de Israel, o que está em causa é a tentativa de controlo das riquezas energéticas do Irão e o derrube de um obstáculo às pretensões de domínio do Médio Oriente pelos EUA e pelos interesses das suas multinacionais, que está igualmente associada à estratégia dos EUA de limitar o desenvolvimento da China e a sua relação com países com recursos energéticos.

Esta agressão soma-se ao ataque militar à Venezuela bolivariana e à escalada de ingerência e pressão contra Cuba e outros países da América Latina e Caraíbas, às ameaças à Gronelândia, à política belicista, de uso da força, que tem sido apanágio da política dos EUA e dos seus aliados, em total violação dos principios da Carta da ONU e do direito internacional.

O CPPC exige do Governo português uma posição firme de condenação do ataque dos EUA e Israel ao Irão e que cumpra com o que a Constituição da República Portuguesa o obriga, nomeadamente: a defesa da paz, da soberania dos Estados e dos direitos dos povos, o fim do colonialismo e
do imperialismo, o desarmamento ou a dissolução dos blocos político-militares. A utilização da Base das Lajes, nos Açores, pelos EUA para o ataque ao Irão envolve o nosso país nesta agressão, o que é inaceitável.

Perante esta agressão dos EUA e Israel, o CPPC solidariza-se com o povo iraniano e exige o fim imediato dos ataques ao Irão e o respeito da sua soberania, reafirmando que a paz no Médio Oriente implica o fim do genocídio do povo palestiniano e a concretização dos seus direitos nacionais, assim como dos ataques a países desta região, como o Líbano ou a Síria.

O CPPC apela a todos quantos defendem a paz, a segurança internacional, a soberania e os direitos dos povos, a participarem na manifestação que várias organizações portuguesas promovem no próximo dia 14 de Março, em Lisboa e no Porto.
