The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) repudiates the recent decision
taken by the US Administration, through the Department of the Treasury, to take over the
company CITGO Petroleum Corporation, belonging to Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), and
hand it to forces of the so-called Venezuelan “opposition” that serve the policy of interference,
plunder and aggression promoted by the United States of America against the Bolivarian
Republic of Venezuela and its people.
A null and illegal decision under Venezuelan legislation and international law, which is not
recognized by the Venezuelan State, nor by its sovereign bodies, including the National
Executive, headed by President Nicolás Maduro.
This unacceptable decision is part of the long history of criminal and provocative actions by
the US against Venezuela, including the application of cruel sanctions – imposed on the
margin of the United Nations and in violation of the principles of its Charter –, with which they
seek to target the living conditions of the Venezuelan people who have courageously
defended their right to sovereignly decide their path of development.
The CPPC reaffirms that it is necessary to put an end to the US aggression against
Venezuela and its people, namely through the immediate end of the unacceptable unilateral
and illegal coercive measures, judicial decisions and other restrictive and punitive measures
promoted by the US and its allies, with which they aim to control and seize the foreign assets
of this Latin American country.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and all the peoples of the world have the right to
pursue the path they sovereignly decide to follow, without external interference – it is respect
for this principle in international relations that best serves peace, development, social
progress.
The CPPC stands in solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its people and
reaffirms the urgent need to respect international law and the principles enshrined in the
United Nations Charter, hence the immediate end of the economic blockade and sanctions
imposed by the US.

EUA apodera-se ilegalmente da CITGO
- Parem de roubar a Venezuela e o seu povo!

O Conselho Português para a Paz e Cooperação (CPPC) repudia a recente decisão
adoptada pela Administração norte-americana, através do Departamento do Tesouro, de
apoderar-se da empresa CITGO Petroleum Corporation, pertencente à Petróleos de
Venezuela (PDVSA), e de a entregar a forças da denominada “oposição” venezuela que
servem a política de ingerência, saque e agressão promovida pelos Estados Unidos da
América contra a República Bolivariana da Venezuela e o seu povo.
Uma decisão nula e ilegal nos termos da legislação venezuelana e do direito internacional,
que não é reconhecida pelo Estado venezuelano, nem pelos seus órgãos soberanos,
incluindo o Executivo Nacional, dirigido pelo Presidente Nicolás Maduro.
Esta inaceitável decisão enquadra-se no longo historial de ações criminosas e provocatórias
dos EUA contra a Venezuela, incluindo através da aplicação de cruéis sanções – impostas à
margem da Organização das Nações Unidas e em afronta aos princípios da sua Carta –,
com que procuram atingir as condições de vida do povo venezuelano que corajosamente tem
defendido o direito de decidir soberanamente o seu caminho de desenvolvimento.
O CPPC reafirma que há que pôr fim à agressão dos EUA contra a Venezuela e o seu povo,
nomeadamente pelo fim imediato das inaceitáveis medidas coercivas unilaterais e ilegais,
decisões judiciais e outras medidas restritivas e punitivas promovidas pelos EUA e seus
aliados, com que visam controlar e apropriar-se dos bens deste país latino-americano no
estrangeiro.
A República Bolivariana da Venezuela e todos os povos do mundo, têm o direito a prosseguir
os caminhos que soberanamente decidam trilhar, sem ingerências externas – é o respeito
por este principio nas relações internacionais que melhor serve a paz, o desenvolvimento, o
progresso social.
O CPPC é solidário com a República Bolivariana da Venezuela e o seu povo e reafirma que
é urgente o respeito pelo direito internacional e pelos princípios consagrados na Carta das
Nações Unidas, logo do fim imediato do bloqueio económico e das sanções impostas pelos
EUA.
