Two resolutions from WPC Asia&Pacific Regional Meeting
WPC from Asia&Pacific Regional Meeting was held in Kathmandu, Nepal on the 26th-27th of July, 2023. Here are two resolutions from this meeting.
Resolution in solidarity with the Korean People
The Member Organisations of the WPC in the region of Asia & Pacific which met in Kathmandu/Nepal on the 26th- 27th July are sending their fraternal greetings to the heroic Korean people which celebrate today the 70th anniversary of the victory in the fatherland liberation war (1950-1953).
The dirty war of the USA and its allies on the Korean peninsula caused millions of victims and destruction; it was the vicious plan to subordinate the Korean people to the imperialist plans in the region. But the Korean people defied, challenged and defeated the invaders under the wise leadership of the leader of the Korean people Kim Il Sung and the revolutionary forces.
70 years after this important day, the Korean peninsula is still under daily threats by the USA and its many allies in the region through military drills around Korea, through the deployment of thousands of US troops in the South of Korea, Missile Defense Shield and the 7th US fleet in the Pacific Ocean, amongst others.
The WPC regional meeting denounces all imperialist maneuvers against the Korean people and supports the right of the DPR of Korea to defend its sovereignty and integrity against the foreign threats and interference. We support the peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula and the replacement of the Armistice Agreement of 1953 by a genuine peace accord, based on International law and the sovereign and free will of the Korean people.
We congratulate the Korean National Peace Committee (KNPC) for this anniversary and express our solidarity with the Korean people in their struggle for the defense of their fatherland.
Long Live the Solidarity amongst the People!
Down with Imperialism!
Resolution in solidarity with the people of Cuba and its Revolution
The Member Organisations of the WPC in the region of Asia & Pacific which met in Kathmandu/Nepal on the 26th July are sending their fraternal greetings to the heroic people of Cuba which celebrate today the 70th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba by the Cuban revolutionaries under the leadership of the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro. This historical event and despite the negative correlation of forces and its outcome in 1953, marked the beginning of the Revolution of the Cuban people which reached its triumph on 1st January 1959.
The WPC and all members of the region express their deep respect to the brave Cuban people and congratulate today all Cubans, men and women for this historical achievement which led to the emancipation and liberation from the dictatorial Batista regime.
Cuba is facing for more than six decades a cruel and brutal economical, financial and commercial blockade by the USA under which millions of its citizens are suffering many consequences. The US administrations and its allies are imposing sanctions and illegal coercive unilateral measures upon Cuba which is defending its sovereignty and its right to choose freely and without impositions and interference its own path of development. It constitutes a provocation and flagrant violation of all norms of International law to include Cuba in the list of “States sponsoring terrorism”, which is an act aiming to strangle and asphyxiate the island of the Revolution.
We condemn likewise the recent resolution of the European Parliament (EP) which is demanding new sanctions against Cuba and its leadership. The EU and its institutions, as a genuine tool of the capital and as a true imperialist structure, is interfering in the domestic affairs of Cuba without any moral or legal authority. The EP has no right and no jurisdiction to judge and examine the whatsoever “performance of Human Rights” of Cuba.
The Regional meeting of the WPC expresses its full-hearted solidarity with the Cuban people and to the Cuban Institute for the Friendship of the Peoples (ICAP) and rejects the imperialist maneuvers and actions. The WPC members are well aware of the crimes of the imperialist forces against the peoples of the world, including Cuba. The meeting demands the closure of the US Basis of Guantanamo where the USA is operating also a concentration camp and the return of the territory to its real owner, the Cuban people. Guantanamo constitutes the real and shameful violation of Human Rights in Cuba!
Glory to the Cuban Revolution! Down with Imperialism!
VIVA CUBA SOCIALISTA!
