The Peace Association of Turkey, member of the Executive Committee of the World Peace Council, was shut down by the government of Turkey. Several WPC member organisations among them CPPC (Portugal), EEDYE (Greece), PANA (Ireland), US Peace Council, INTAL (Belgium), Cyprus Peace Council, CEBRAPAZ (Brazil), PCPS (Palestine), Soldiers Against War (Czech Republic) and Swiss Peace Movement, issued statements of solidarity with the Peace Association.

In the statements, the organisations denounced this attack on the rights and freedoms of the Turkish organizations and social movements, denounced the repression against the Peace Association of Turkey and expressed their deep concern about the real motives and goals behind this authoritarian, antidemocratic act based on unacceptable arguments.
The organisations expressed their solidarity towards the Turkish people, to all the peace loving forces and to the Peace Association of Turkey, member of the World Peace Council.
