The Dominican Union of Journalists for Peace, Inc. (UDPP) from the Dominican Republic raises its strongest voice of protest against the criminal coup d’état against the President of the sister Republic of Bolivia, Evo Morales. The fascist court of the coup leaders obviously has a definition: imperialism. Evo Morales is one of the greatest heads of states of the present century in Latin America. The elimination of illiteracy, the reduction of extreme poverty and poverty in general, the visualization of the original people, the consolidation of politics, and many other achievements, can be exhibited by the Evo government.

It is clear that US imperialism is behind that coup d'etat. The unfortunate thing is not only that Bolivia will probably be governed again by neo-fascists and neo-Nazists who will return the country to the times before those assumed by the presidency of the Plurinational Republic of Bolivia, Brother Evo Morales, but that contributes to the consolidation of the puppet and delivery governments that have emerged in recent years on the continent. The struggle of interest of those fascist groups that do not support the exercise of politics if it is not accompanied by the theft of the public thing, corruption and the looting of the patrimonial wealth of the nation, is strong.

It is proven once again that the military, even when they claim to defend democracy and the people, only defend the status quo that allows them to become rich by plundering public heritage. The fact that both the Army and the Police of that country refused to take to the streets to control the theft, the looting of property, the burning of houses, the kidnapping of political personalities, and, finally, all that range of criminality that happened in the presence of the "authorities" was the signal that the rancid oligarchy of Bolivia expected to overthrow the most progressive of how many presidents the sister nation has had.

The UDPP makes a vehement call to all the political and social forces of the continent to join us in the quest for the restoration of democracy in Bolivia. Today was Bolivia, tomorrow they will try to continue with Nicaragua and Venezuela. Today, more than ever, solidarity and unity of all the peoples of our Latin America must prevail.

DECLARACION DE REPUDIO AL GOLPE DE ESTADO EN CONTRA DEL PRESIDENTE DE BOLIVIA, EVO MORALES

La Unión Dominicana de Periodistas por la Paz, Inc. (UDPP), eleva su más enérgica voz de protesta por el criminal golpe de estado perpetrado en contra del Presidente de la hermana República de Bolivia, Evo Morales. El corte fascista de los golpistas tiene evidentemente una definición: imperialismo. Evo Morales es uno de los más grandes jefes de Estados del siglo presente en América Latina. La eliminación del analfabetismo, la reducción de la pobreza extrema y de la pobreza en general, la visualización del pueblo originario, el adecentamiento de la política, y otros muchos logros, pueden ser exhibidos por el gobierno de Evo.

Es evidente que el imperialismo norteamericano está detrás de ese golpe de estado. Lo lamentable no es tan solo que Bolivia volverá a ser gobernada probablemente por neofascistas y neonazistas que retrotraerán al país a los tiempos anteriores a los que asumió la presidencia de la República Plurinacional de Bolivia el hermano Evo Morales, sino que eso contribuye con el afianzamiento de los gobiernos títeres y entreguista que han surgido en los últimos años en el continente. La lucha de interés de esos grupos fascistas que no soportan el ejercicio de la política si esta no viene acompañada del robo de la cosa pública, de la corrupción y el saqueo de las riquezas patrimoniales de la nación, es fuerte.

Queda comprobado una vez más, que los militares, aun cuando afirmen defender la democracia y al pueblo, tan solo defienden el estatus quo que les permite hacerse ricos saqueando el patrimonio público. El hecho de que tanto el Ejército como la Policía de aquel país se negaran a salir a las calles a controlar el robo, el saqueo de bienes, la quema de casas, el secuestro de personalidades políticas, y, en fin, toda aquella gama de criminalidad que sucedía en presencia de las “autoridades”, era la señal que esperaba la oligarquía rancia de Bolivia para derrocar al más progresista de cuantos presidentes ha tenido la hermana nación.

La UDPP hace un vehemente llamado a todas las fuerzas políticas y sociales del continente para que nos unamos en procura del restablecimiento de la democracia en Bolivia. Hoy fue Bolivia, mañana pretenderán seguir con Nicaragua y Venezuela. Hoy más que nunca debe primar la solidaridad y la unidad de todos los pueblos de nuestra América Latina.
