The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) signals March 30, Palestinian
Land Day, remembering, as millions of Palestinians do every year, the general strike and the
large demonstrations against the illegal confiscation of Palestinian lands by Israel, when
Israeli troops murdered six young Palestinians in Galilee. This date became a milestone in the
patriotic unity of the Palestinian people in the struggle against the illegal occupation by Israel
of Palestinian territories and for the right to a free and independent Palestine.

For decades, the CPPC has been denouncing the situation in Palestine, where Israel,
contrary to international law and numerous UN resolutions, continues its brutal policy of
occupation and oppression, depriving the Palestinian people of the right to justice, freedom,
peace.

Since the beginning of this year, in a context in which violence by Israeli forces has increased
considerably, especially in the West Bank, almost a hundred Palestinians have been
murdered, including 17 minors.

Despite continuous calls to stop the expansion of Israeli settlements, including by the United
Nations, Israel continues to attack and expel Palestinians from their homes and lands, with
the connivance of the United States of America and the European Union who, aware of the
violation of the rights of the Palestinian people, do not condemn Israel.

It is time to end the Israeli occupation and the suffering of the Palestinian people. The CPPC
reaffirms the demand for the end of the occupation of the Palestinian territories illegally
occupied by Israel and the creation of the State of Palestine on the borders prior to June 4,
1967, with its capital in East Jerusalem, and the fulfilment of the right of return of Palestinian
refugees, in line with UN resolutions.

It is demanded that the Portuguese Government act in a manner consistent with the principles
of the United Nations Charter and the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic – which
advocates the abolition of colonialism and any other forms of aggression, domination and
exploitation of peoples –, condemning the policy of Israeli occupation and oppression and
advocating the fulfilment of the national rights of the Palestinian people.

On this March 30, the CPPC calls for the expression of solidarity with the legitimate
resistance and struggle of the Palestinian people for the right to their land, to the freedom of
their free and independent State.

Dia da Terra Palestina
– Pôr fim à ocupação e opressão israelita

O Conselho Português para a Paz e Cooperação (CPPC) assinala o dia 30 de Março, Dia da
Terra Palestina, relembrando, como o fazem todos os anos milhões de palestinianos, a greve
geral e as grandes manifestações contra a ilegal confiscação de terras palestinianas por
parte de Israel, em que tropas israelitas assassinaram seis jovens palestinianos na Galileia.
Esta data tornou-se um marco na unidade patriótica do povo palestiniano em luta contra a
ilegal ocupação por Israel de territórios palestinianos e pelo direito a uma Palestina livre e
independente.

Há décadas que o CPPC tem vindo a denunciar a situação que se vive na Palestina, onde
Israel, à revelia do direito internacional e de inúmeras resoluções da ONU, continua a sua
brutal política de ocupação e opressão, privando o povo palestiniano do direito à justiça, à
liberdade, à paz.

Desde o início deste ano, num contexto em que a violência por parte das forças israelitas tem
aumento consideravelmente, especialmente na zona da Cisjordânia, já foram assassinados
quase uma centena de palestinianos, entre os quais 17 menores de idade.

Apesar dos contínuos apelos para que cesse a ampliação dos colonatos israelitas, incluindo
pela Organização das Nações Unidas, Israel continua a agredir e a expulsar palestinianos
das suas casas e terras, com a conivência dos Estados Unidos da América e da União
Europeia que, cientes da violação de direitos do povo palestiniano, não condenam Israel.
É tempo de por fim à ocupação israelita e ao sofrimento do povo palestiniano. O CPPC
reafirma a exigência do fim da ocupação dos territórios palestinianos ilegalmente ocupados
por Israel e a criação do Estado da Palestina nas fronteiras anteriores a 4 de Junho de 1967,
com capital em Jerusalém Leste, e o cumprimento do direito ao retorno dos refugiados
palestinianos, conforme as resoluções da ONU.

Ao Governo português exige-se que atue de forma coerente com os princípios da Carta das
Nações Unidas e da Constituição da República Portuguesa – que preconiza a abolição do
colonialismo e de quaisquer outras formas de agressão, domínio e exploração sobre os
povos –, condenado a política de ocupação e opressão israelita e pugnado pelo cumprimento
dos direitos nacionais do povo palestiniano.

Neste dia 30 de Março, o CPPC apela à expressão da solidariedade com a legítima
resistência e luta do povo palestiniano pelo direito à sua terra, à liberdade ao seu Estado livre
e independente.
