WPC statement on Venezuela July 2010
The WPC condemns vehemently the new imperialist plans of the USA and Colombia against Venezuela with the pretext of Colombian guerilla activities in Venezuela. The maneuvers and threats of the government of Colombia, the most loyal ally of the USA in the region, are aiming against both neighbor peoples and the whole area. They are taking place at the same time when the USA is planning to install new military bases in the region using parallely the 4th US Naval Fleet, which was re-launched after 60 years in South America.
The USA and its allies have never stopped elaborating plans to destabilize the broader region. Likewise to the Coup d’ Etat in April 2002 in Venezuela and the one in June 2009 in Honduras, their goal remains the political and economical control of the region, to secure the spheres of influence by all means. The government of Colombia which is acting as another Israel of Latin America and which is not hesitating to implement the dirty and dangerous imperialist plans in its neighborhood, has the support not only of the US administration but also of the European Union, which is steering the Colombian regime and its allegations.
The WPC warns the peoples and peace-loving forces of the world about this new escalation and calls upon them to be vigilant and express solidarity with the peoples of Venezuela, Colombia and the whole Latin America in order to cancel the threats and implementation of the plans which can lead to bloodshed in the region.
We express our full support to the people and the anti-imperialist forces in Venezuela and to our Member Organisation COSI which is in the forefront of the struggle of its people.
